Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the technological strategies developed by the early habitants of the Fuego-Patagonian Channels whose mode of life was oriented towards the exploitation of littoral resources. To this purpose we carry out a comparison among the lithic assemblages of six sites located on different sectors of this area, dated about the sixth millenia BP. The results obtained allow us establish several similarities in connection with the manufacture techniques, the use of space and the general structure of the tool assemblages. In addition, these data suggest the existence of social networks and mechanisms of transmission of knowledge among the different groups
who peopled the southernmost channels of Southamerica.
